Anti Libertas bloggers are tonight claiming Victory for high lighting the far right agenda of Libertas in Eastern Europe and Ireland. Today I am proud to announce that UK policy director for Libertas has resigned from the party and pulled out of his election bid in the UK North West. he noted that his anti racist message was incompatible with a party that supported and has members who are far right xenophobes and fascists.

Though it took a while the efforts of bloggers has exposed Libertas to the world. We commend Ben Tallis for taking this decision now. As reported here other party members have left over their religious fundamentalism and fascism. Ganley should withdraw from politics now and remove the stain that he and his party have made on Ireland's reputation internationally. Say No to fascism say No to Libertas.

In some very welcome news, the lead candidate of Libertas in the North West, Ben Tallis, has resigned from that party and urged voters to back the Green Party here in the North West. In a statement today, Ben said:

"As the campaign has progressed I have come to realise that while I am committed to Libertas’ goals of reforming the EU from a pro-European perspective and admire the Libertas team in the UK, I cannot agree with certain aspects of the wider European party, notably in the Czech Republic and Poland. Therefore, I will be resigning from the party and the northwest campaign with immediate effect. If Libertas were to win enough votes to return an MEP I would not take up this seat on their behalf.

In the European elections in the Northwest, I will be voting for the Green Party and supporting their campaign. We must fight fascism wherever it appears and in the northwest, the Green party have the best chance of stopping the BNP."

Declan Ganley has done it again recruiting a former British Army officer in the Blues and Royals Carlo de Chair to run for Libertas. Carlos also served in northern Ireland during the troubles in a regiment repeatedly targeted by the IRA. However de Clair is also a lifelong euroscetptic who ran in two general elections for James Goldsmith. In 1994 he polled 12,409 votes standing as an Independent Anti European Superstate candidate in Essex North and Suffolk South.
In 1997 he ran as a candidate for Goldsmaith's Referendum party polling 2,740 in Suffolk South E.
Not only that he is a member of the super elite British aristocratic set.

SIR JAMES Goldsmith, today celebrating his election to Strasbourg after the spectacular success of L'Autre Europe, should not despair of extending his credo to Britain.

One of his kindred spirits, Carlo de Chair, son of the former Tory MP and author Somerset de Chair, polled 12,409 votes standing as an Independent Anti European Superstate candidate in Essex North and Suffolk South - the highest vote recorded anywhere in Britain by an independent.

'Sir James wrote to me wishing me well. We obviously have similar views,' says Carlo, from St Osyth's Priory, Essex, one of his family's seats.

A former officer in the Blues and Royals, Carlo campaigned under the unequivocal slogan, 'Let us stop grovelling to Brussels' and is emphatic about his credentials for doing so. 'I used to be called 'wog' during my school days at Milton Abbey because of my name and because I look like one,' he adds, 'but I am, in fact, entirely British.'

Libertas in Northern Ireland headed by Retired British Army Lt. Colonel

According to Wikipedia, Libertas in Northern Ireland is headed by a recently retired British Army Lt. Colonel Robin Matthews. Northern Ireland has seen a recent return to dissident Republican violence and it appears that Libertas have decided to defy both Sinn Fein, their partners in the NO to Lisbon campaign, who are against any staioning of British soliders in the six counties, and the dissident republican groups who have recently killed two British service men and a policeman in gun attacks there. Libertas in Northern Ireland are run by the same team as that of Great Britain.

Libertas NI (abbr. unknown: LNI?) is the name of the Libertas Party Limited affiliate that intends to field candidates in Northern Ireland. It shares offices and some personnel with the Great Britain affiliate but has a different treasurer.

Matthews was spin doctor for the British war effort in Helmand Province until the middle of 2008. He also attended Ganley's eurpsceptic dinner at the Shelbourne Hotel in Dublin with his wife Frances. The dinner was held to honour the Kremlin's man in the Czech Republic Vaclav Klaus.

UK Labour MEP Richard Corbett has branded Libertas a farce and said it was "a personal vanity project" for Declan Ganley. Corbett has been one of Ganley's most outspoken and active critics.

EU politicians attack Libertas following launch in UK and France

MEPs from all parties have joined forces to attack Libertas, the anti-Lisbon treaty group, following its launch as a political party in Britain.

The group, founded by Declan Ganley, hopes to field 72 candidates in the 12 electoral regions across the UK in June's European elections.

On Tuesday, it announced that the UK arm of its operation would be spearheaded by former soldier Robin Matthews and that it is attempting to recruit other candidates. Libertas, which led the successful 'no' campaign against the treaty in Ireland, will launch in France today.

The UK launch was met with derision by several MEPs, including UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage, who branded the organisation's basic policies as "flawed".

Farage said, "Libertas is running on the idea that a few more elections, say an elected EU president, will solve matters.

"However well-meaning, this simply is not possible."

"People have to realise that Libertas is not a Eurosceptic party. It wants a bigger and stronger EU," he added.

He believes, though, that electorally it may have a "big impact" in June, particularly in countries with no tradition of Eurosceptism like Germany but that it will not have an impact on Ukip.

Further reaction came from UK ALDE deputy Andrew Duff who said that "anti-European voters in Britain are being spoiled for choice".

"Ganley wants the EU to stick with the present, clumsy and inefficient Nice treaty but voters want a stronger and reformed EU," said Duff.

UK Socialist deputy Richard Corbett branded the group's plans a "farce", saying it was "a personal vanity project" for Ganley.

"Eurosceptics will be like kids in a sweet shop this June, with the British National Party, Ukip, the Tories and Libertas to choose from, but this launch is a farce. The fact that their 'party leader' has been personally appointed by Ganley demonstrates that Libertas is nothing more than a personal vanity project – a pressure group masquering as a party."

Referring to claims by Ganley that he would not be using his own money to back the campaign, Corbett said, "Ganley spent more money in the Irish referendum than Ireland's three main political parties added together.

"That is what he is about - slick propaganda, myth-making and playing on people's fears. If he doesn't spend his own money, then he will be using someone else's."

German Socialist deputy Jo Leinen commented, "I am worried about the current political situation in the UK because there is a real danger that it will return quite a number of eurosceptic MEPs to the new parliament.

"It could be, though, that the public will be confused by all these different groups and their populist anti-EU slogans will not succeed."

LIBERTAS FOUNDER and chairman Declan Ganley has appointed four high-profile defence industry figures to the board of Rivada Networks, his communications technology company.

The news comes as he prepares to declare formally his candidacy for the June 5th elections to the European Parliament in Ireland North-West, a move expected to come next week.

Mr Ganley is to quit his role as chief executive of Rivada and take over as chairman, which will allow him more time to concentrate on the European elections. John Kelly, a former president of Bell Aerospace and a current Rivada director, is to take over the post of chief executive.

All four newcomers to the board are linked to the international defence industry. They include a former chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff during the Iraqi invasion, Gen Richard Myers; former chief of the UK defence staff, Lord Charles Guthrie; and two former senior officials in the US department of homeland security, Michael Jackson and George Forseman.

Rivada Networks is a US-based defence contracting firm specialising in the provision of telecommunications systems to the military, police and emergency services in disaster situations and has secured US military contracts worth up to $240million (€190 million). Lord Guthrie, who has served in the SAS, was chief of the UK general staff between 1997 and 2001. He is a cross-bench member of the House of Lords. He was created a life peer after retiring as chief of the defence staff.

Gen Myers is a former four-star general in the United States air force and served as the 15th chairman of the joint chiefs of staff.

He was the principal military adviser to George Bush for the 2003 invasion of Iraq.

Mr Jackson is a former deputy secretary of the US department of homeland security. Mr Forseman was the department’s under-secretary for preparedness until 2007.

The appointments are likely to fuel claims by Mr Ganley’s political opponents that his opposition to the Lisbon Treaty reflects his close links with the US military-industrial complex.

The 40-year-old businessman has been recruiting support throughout the European Union in advance of the elections to the parliament.

Mr Ganley would be seeking to take one of the three seats currently held by Seán Ó Neachtáin of Fianna Fáil, Jim Higgins of Fine Gael and Independent MEP Marian Harkin.

Ex-soldier to lead Libertas battle in UK

LIBERTAS founder Declan Ganley has announced that a former soldier will head his party's European elections campaign in Britain.

He said yesterday that it would provide British voters with their "last and best chance" to send out a message that they did not support the Lisbon Treaty, which has been ratified by 25 EU states but cannot enter into force until it has been approved by Irish voters.

The leader of Libertas UK will be Robin Matthews, a former soldier who left the British army last year after more than 20 years' service in countries such as Bosnia and Afghanistan.

This move comes after Mr Ganley appointed four defence industry heavy hitters to the board of his telecommunications company, Rivada Networks, including General Richard Myers, a former chairman of the US joint chiefs of staff during the invasion of Iraq, and Lord Guthrie, the former British chief of defence staff.

Mr Ganley, who is expected to declare his own candidacy for the European elections in the North West constituency next week, is planning to run anti-Lisbon Treaty candidates across Europe.

Libertas UK leader Robin Matthews said that people who wanted a strong and healthy Europe that is democratic and answerable to them should vote for a Libertas candidate.

"If they do not want Europe to succeed. . . then they should vote for another party."

The launch attracted a sceptical response from other established British political parties.

Libertas rhetoric is not the same as Ganley's agenda. the admin of the group is Anthony Butcher from Long Ashton, Bristol who is also admin on the British Democracy Forum a right wing UKIP influenced political bulletin board.

In Ireland Ganley also employs David Cochrane who owns Irelands biggest political bulletin board Politics.ie which has recently been widely discredited as a Libertas run front. Cochrane has been employed by Ganley since 2007 when he worked for the military supply company Rivada on the Libertas project.

Libertas was incorporated in October 2006. Seven people signed the document establishing the company, five of whom were Rivada employees. Libertas uses the same address and telephone number as Rivada, in Tuam.

During the referendum campaign Nunn, the then "executive director" of Libertas, told The Irish Times that he was an employee of Rivada since October 2006 and still was. He said Ganley would assign him to his duties and that his main activity was working for Libertas.

He also said the Libertas campaign director, David Cochrane, was an employee of Rivada who had started working for Rivada in 2007, and worked mainly on developing the Libertas website. Nunn said he received his instructions from Ganley. see here
